A triangle without a level base is not a triangle. Descending triangle is a term of art and not susceptible to a different definition. Per text [referenced below]: "They then taper off into a tight trading range, characterized by lower highs and a line of horizontal lows".----Not what you described--- However, maybe you are describing a penant or Falling Wedge Pattern. Per text[referenced below]: "Look for a breakout on heavy volume about 3/4 of the way through the wedge. Add the greatest height of the wedge to the breakout point for an upside objective." Falling wedges [however] are considered Bullish and break to the upside. I like the book, "Technical Analysis" published by The NY Institute of Finance, 1989. Dart
