update
America Online stands to net $1.25 billion from Sun Microsystems over the next three years by result of a deal allowing Sun to sell Netscape software on behalf of the Internet giant.

There's some interesting stuff here. I'm just starting to appreciate the depth of this deal. SUNW has brought out the Jethro bowl here for some major software action. This (software) hasn't been an area of core competency for them in the past. If nothing else, this is going to make for a REALLY interesting chapter in the saga that is 'HotJava'.

Around the time that Solaris 7 was released, Sun made specific reference to a significant future HotJava release slated for Q1'99. Based on what I've read here, I'm wondering if that's been folded into a future joint SUNW/AOL press release.
