Ohhh man!! What a pile of biased analysis from this Rick Sherlund of Goldman Sachs.

Sorry I had to dip in here but I have not heard so much biased analysis reporting in a long time. MSFT will barely be dented by Y2K? yeah right! The fact that it is one of the likely major factors to the Windows2000 delay (redirection of developers to test and remediate current/previous application code) and that they have already had their first $1billion law suit against them (Province of Alberta) and that the IT industry is not pulling any MSFT exceptions to their Y2K Lockdown process starting H2/99 throws sand in the face of this biased set of opinions.

The DOJ case will not be a factor? Does he know the othcome or the remedial action that would be imposed on the company (the rest of the world doesnt yet know)from the courts? How the hell can he make such a cowboy statement.

Did anyone notice that all his predictions in the report were not backed up with the logic on why he believes what he has stated? I would give this man a lot more credit if he were to back up his statements with some logic on why the DOJ case outcome will not be a big factor or why MSFT will be spared from the Y2K downturn that the rest of the industry experts say will affect the rest of the software industry?

Finally, this wise analyst did not even mention the fact that MSFT is likely not going to release Windows2000 until Q1 or Q2 of 2000 and what impact that has on potential marketshare leaks when all MSFT's competitors have released their latest NOS SOS revisions. Not a word was said about this! Very interesting ommission.

But I am sure that a lot of people on this board will bow to this analyst and blindly believe what he predicts.

Sorry folks, but this is an analyst that should be called a promoter. I can understand when ppl like Tech2000 or Ed or many others on this board make one-sided statements like this, but when an Official "Analyst" makes these statements, just not acceptable.

Just my opinons people. Chow!
