Steve,

I haven't been following Westell lately, but from memory, Westell was/is going to use the TI solution.

I question the real reason behind Westell using the Alcatel chip solution. It certainly looks like MOT and TI can't deliver and that forced BEL/Westell to use the Alcatel ATU-R chip solution. If BEL wants a DMT solution in 1Q99/2Q99, Westell needs a DMT chip.

Why haven't we seen an Alcatel/TI interoperability announcement? Pairgain hasn't announced a single win with their ADSL solution, but we see an announcement on interoperability between those two vendors. Alcatel won the DMT contracts, one would think TI would get their ATU-R Evaluation board working with Alcatel.

I just read the Alcatel/Westell announcement, Westell is ONLY going to use the Alcatel chip in their ATU-R modem. So we still have to wait for TI on the DSLAM ATU-C modem.... until later.
