My mate went to school with John Lennon, we where about 3 years younger than him. Anyways, John used to hang around a milk bar (cafe) by Greenbank Park, we used to play football, fish, and go on the rowboats there. One day my mate told a storey to us about Johns angry nature, and was told not to talk to him. The next time i went by alone, i stuck my head in the door, and said Hi John. His response was F*ck Off, then i said "you rotten GOB Sh!#e". Than he got up and chased me (I was 13 and into sports so he never go me). So every time i past the place it was the same thing, he stopped going there.
As i got older (16) used to go to Blair Hall on Sunday afternoons
to a dance (lots of birds there). Blair Hall was large room with a stage, and Rory Storm and the Hurricans were playing with a guest drummer Ringo Starr. A year later he joined the Beatles.
The next time was in the Caven and they were pushing past me to get a pint from the bar after a session. Good times had by all.
Then i left for the U.S.A. in july 63.
