I suppose I have to bring this up since no one else wants to mention it. According to IDC 90M PCs were sold in cy 98. Using very conservative growth of 10% per year, 110M units will be sold cy 2000. Apple sold 3M units in cy 98, about 3.3% market share. For Apple to claw it's way back to 5% in the year 2000 will require it to sell 5.5M units. That's 40%+ unit growth a year for 2 years just to gain back 1.7% marketshare. The numbers are a bit daunting. If the LG Electronics numbers are right and Apple says there are inaccuracies, about 2 - 2.6M iMacs will be produced per year. That requires an additional 2.9 to 3.5M non-iMac units to be produced by 2000, equal to the total unit output presently. Taken in that light Apple still has a rough road ahead. Rich
