U.S. TRADING SUMMARY: Bargain hunters hit U.S. markets Wednesday
after an early morning dip in stock prices. After an hour of
trading the Dow Jones industrial average moved into positive
territory. At 10:50 a.m. ET, the Dow Jones industrial average was
up 37 points to 9170, while the Nasdaq composite index gained 25
to 2336. But breadth was negative as losing issues outpaced
gainers 1465 to 1014 on NYSE volume of 195 million shares. The S&P
500 was up nine to 1226. The 30-year Treasury fell 8/32 to yield
5.31%. The market is likely to keep an eye on developments in
Brazil. Latin America's largest country said on Wednesday it will
help Minas Gerais repay its foreign debt after the rebel state
said it was unable to honor some of the $108 million it owed this
week.
