Surely a sustained rise in the price of oil will be a surprise whenever it comes. I would like to believe that it will happen this year, but I am resigned to the possibility that it won't. This morning's WSJ carried an article which clearly points out the existing oversupply of oil in the marketplace.

What is clearly needed is renewed growth in non-OECD countries and the subsequent demand increase that this would bring. We may have to wait several years. I am worried that the typical investor, represented by posts on this board, is not prepared to wait that long.
