The misconduct is not trivial if you're the one looking at the loss of freedom just so some gung-ho cop can meet his quota for busts and convictions. What is more important in a free society than insuring that the government representatives are held to a high standard when it comes to locking people up. If a cop can't follow the rules, why should we bend over backwards to permit him/her to continue to lock people up. What ever happened to a presumption of innocence??? Sanctioning official misconduct when it means the loss of freedom for thousands upon thousands of people is just a little bit evil!! If the Chinese do it, then its human rights violations. We need to put things like this in the proper perspective before we find ourselves in a true police state.
