Freewest and Partners Stake 228 Claims Near Nuinsco's Discovery in The Lac Rocher Area of Quebec

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--Freewest Resources Canada Inc. is pleased to
announce the acquisition by staking of 228 claims (3648 ha) in the
Lac Rocher area of Quebec. The claims form five discrete blocks
in close proximity to Nuinsco Resources Ltd.'s nickel discovery
announced on January 21, 1999. In diamond drill hole No. LR-99-1,
Nuinsco reported an intersection of 61.5 meters (201.7 feet) of
disseminated to massive sulphides with an average grede of 1.69
percent nickel and 0.49 percent copper. Included in the
intersection was a 3.2 meter (10.5 feet) massive sulphide interval
of 10.8 percent nickel located near the bottom of the hole.

Three of the claim blocks are held 100 percent by Freewest and
together cover 148 claims (2368 ha) in blocks of 81, 40 and 27
claims respectively. Freewest is actively seeking joint venture
partners to explore these properties

The remaining two blocks are held 50 percent by Freewest and 50
percent by joint venture partners as follows:

- 23 claims (368 ha) with Gold Hawk Resources Inc. (CGK: ME)

- 57 claims (912 ha) with Prospectors Alliance Corp. (PALL: CDN)

Freewest is looking forward to exploring these blocks with its
joint venture partners and has already undertaken a detailed
compilation of the geophysical and geological data available for
the Lac Rocher region, the most exciting new exploration area in
Canada.
