I've been watching EXAR for over a year. They have been in "transition" on an ongoing basis and trading in a range between 13 and 17.

EXAR recently reported earnngs of $.01/share and indicated that, while margins will increase, revenues will remain flat for at least the next quarter and posiibly the next two quarters. As a result, EXAR's cash holdings are also decreasing.

Based on this "excellent" news, Prudential Securities upgraded EXAR to a "buy" on or around January 30, 1997. Since the upgrade, EXAR has been trading well above its normal volume between 15 1/2 and 16.

Given current market conditions and its revenue/earnings outlook, I can't believe this stock hasn't retested support at 13.

What does Prudential Securities know that we don't?
