Craig, You ask then it takes a certain amount of conviction to hold a stock for the long term hoping that its volatility will be reduced.
Conviction, stubbornness, stupidity, good judgment or bad--I have no idea what it takes to hold any particular issue long term. But the chart does indicate that when a company grows up, so to speak, its volatility goes down. The risk as expressed in the marketplace of owning that stock is seen to be less. For example, the chart indicates that owning AOL and DELL are seen to have about the same risk, whereas Yahoo, which is also making money, is seen as much, much riskier. Best, --Steve |
