Drake,
All of this activity with Datek, trying to get your confirmation, seems like way way too much work. For quick-in-and-out daytrading, as you describe, I am certain that the direct-access online brokers are more appropriate than any browser-based broker, such as Datek.
With direct access, you execute orders directly from your quote (Level II) stock boxes and get confirmation immediately, with one major caveat: the system must be working. Unfortunately, the system I use sometimes does not work. It is said that to eliminate internet congestion problems, one should use a dedicated frame relay line to connect. Have you considered this approach?
By the way, regarding Caylady's post on A.B. Watley, I used it back in late 1997 and was totally frustrated by their service at that time. Unless they have changed drastically, you would do yourself well to avoid that mess. If you now get your quotes separately from Datek, may I ask which data provider you use and how reliable do you find them? Thanks, and good luck!
