i just remembered all the consolidation going on in the antivirus industry...

network general acquired dr.solomon's and then merged with mcafee, the new company being renamed network associates. that's why mcafee.com is down, i think. go to network associates' website networkassociates.com and there are links on the site for mcafee.

you said that the "infected" file is not a program file... but you know that documents are susceptible to trojans. i just read, in fact, that the real explosion in viruses over the last year has been in macro viruses, because they can spread through any shared document. the international computer security association says that macro viruses now comprise over 80% of pc virus infections.
