Patient investors will be rewarded by their holdings of CPQ.

Current market prices of the low $40's represent an unusual window of opportunity for the tech investor. This period is not unlike last Fall when CPQ was in the mid $20's.

I own a chunk of the stock and if not for portfolio allocation considerations would be adding more at this week's prices. In fact, I programmed my "quotrek" today to alert me of any price drop to $40 - at that point, back up the truck!

I agree with your accesment of the merger with Digital. Compaq will in the future be very competative on a multi platform level and will have much the same focus as IBM. Remember, Digital(DEC) was one of the very few big systems makers that could compete successfully abainst IBM. In adittion, I agree that alliance with Alta Vista and other internet co's will broaden CPQ's market scope.

DELL has demonstrated a most succesfull business model and has demonstrated superior inventory managment - this is reflected in its stock price. Compaq has not been sleeping on the sidelines - we can rest assured that CPQ will implement an equally succesful model.
DELL will continue to do well, however, I believe in the long term CPQ will take away DELL sales!

Remember folks, with the technological assets of DIGITAL under its belt COMPAQ is positioning itself to be a real powerhouse in the industry.

CLEARLY FROM THE ABOVE, I AM BULLISH ON CPQ AND HOLD THE STOCK LONG.

AS ALWAYS, DO YOUR OWN DUE DILIGENCE BEFORE INVESTING IN EQUITIES !!
