Keane Clarifies Dow Jones Report on Application Outsourcing Backlog

BOSTON, Feb. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to inquiries from investors regarding today's Dow Jones story on its backlog, Keane today confirmed that an error had been made in computing the company's application outsourcing backlog as of the end of the Third Quarter 1998. Keane's Third Quarter application outsourcing backlog actually was $289 million, not $370 million.

''This computational error had no impact on our reported financial results,'' stated Brian Keane, office of the president of Keane, Inc. ''Keane does not utilize application outsourcing backlog figures in the preparation of our internal forecasts. Keane's budgets and business outlook are driven by revenue run-rates and sales, and the continuing trends on these numbers remain very positive, as indicated by Keane's Fourth Quarter and year end 1998 results. Accordingly, the computational error has no impact on our outlook for the future.''
