I think it's interesting that everyone who is upset about E*Trade's admittedly faulty recent service (which I don't excuse) is complaining about all of the money they lost--you'd think that everyone of them was some sort of Master of the Universe who never made a trade that lost money. Sorry, folks, but I don't buy it. If they couldn't make a trade because E*Trade was down, the actual reality was that they were just as likely to have saved money as lost money (there being a "loser" and a "winner" on every transaction, depending on the time frame).

E*Trade needs to get their stuff together (which they're doing), but all this chest-beating about the vast fortunes that have been lost because the service was down is crap. As many "fortunes" were saved as lost.
