How hard would it be for TDFX/STB to make their own console? My understanding of these things (although somewhat limited) is that the proprietary hardware/TV connection is relatively inexpensive - the big bucks is in the software. If TDFX can develop the chip to support a console hook up using the same CD's for the PC - what else would be needed. STB makes their own monitors and motherboards. I would think they could figure out the needed hardware to do it right. PC/console compatability would help maintenance/patch support issues. Gaming companies are trying to make internet play much simpler. TDFX could leverage these things to add internet connection to simple set top box configuration. Price this right and anyone that plays games on the PC can pop the CD into the TV box, lay on the couch, crank up the stereo, and conquer the world. If doable - this would kill Nintendo & company. TDFX has 100 million in the bank to make something like this happen. What do you guys think? Joe C.
