How good (or bad) is the Jazz and Zip? Can they crash and devour any disks put in the drives? My question arise because of these two stories (no idea if they are malicious rumours or the truth). My own Zip and Jazz are still working perfectly, so far. However, if these stories were true, I need to take steps to get a second backup.

1. I just heard today that there has been documented cases of Zip drives failures that result in loss of data in the disk (caused disks to be damaged), and there was a subsequent class action lawsuit that was settled out of court?

2. Has there been any similar story (or cases) where the Jazz drives are malfunctioning the same way? I noted an ebay seller who is totally disgruntled about his jazz drive: cgi.ebay.com
