E:

I appreciate your comment. I too, acknowledge his abilities. He has been an extraordinarily successful man. He has built a cutting edge company. He undoubtedly has vast insight into the future of the electronics industry.

But if I may point out something, please do not disrespect me for it.

Wilf Corrigan has the propensity to reach for stars. That is all fine and good. However, people who reach for stars and fail are doomed to historical irrelevancy. And, more importantly to us, if we've hitched our fortunes to them, are fortunes are doomed to irrelevancy as well.

He could have said a lot of things today about the future of the company. He might have said that the future is bright. That the company expects to participate in a broad based recovery. He might have said that he expects year over year increases in quarterly revenue, or, he might have simply said that the future is cloudy and unpredictable.

But, he didn't say any of those things. What he did say is that "The company will earn $2 billion in 1999", or words to that effect.

My concern is that he has locked it in. He has made a prediction and now he is bound to it. And, as longs so are we. I'm all for rosy scenarios. I'll bet you are too. But, I hate to be held bound to them. So why does he always do it to us?

Do you disagree?
