Sector Investor,

Are there any estimates on the market for OC-12 gear? I think the real cost factor remains leased lines. Reading my latest article on Internet 2 (I2) where GigaPOP topology is described it takes 4, OC-12 (622 Mb/s) links to hook up. According to the authors, these lines cost $69,000 x 4 = $276K/month or $3.3M/year. These costs would seem to be barriers to entry for anyone but a CLEC with an adequate customer base. How many of these guys are out there?

George D.
