The Clik of Death has been a very isolated problem, mostly affecting Zip. (I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone claiming to have the problem with Jaz.) Iomega has publicly stated that the problem has been experienced in less than 1/2 of 1% of Zip drives. They have also offered to replace any Zip drive (in or out of warranty) that experiences the problem.

I have owned a SCSI Zip, Zip Plus, and IDE Zip. I've never had problems with any of them.

I don't think it's anything to worry about.
