Analysts dismiss Corel takeover rumours
...As Corel's stock price plunged, it gained a reputation as a prime takeover target.

Duncan Stewart, manager of the Navigator Canadian technology fund, said Adobe would gain little from acquiring Corel's technology.

"Everything that can be invented has been invented in this area," he said. "The feature wars are over and there's little evolution left."

But Adobe might be looking for something else: Corel's customers.

"Maybe Adobe wants to be No. 1 in graphics," said Stewart. "They wouldn't be buying it for technology."
