I am sure companies are always seeking to improve their algorithms, but about 2 years ago when we were looking for a cheap alternative to Cogent and seeking some additional afis technology to include in our product, we bought a couple of runtimes of Identicator and did some studies and we found it's matcher (circa 2 years ago) wasn't good enough to include in our product. Incidently we didn't win the contract so we never went farther with the system. We found Identicator got hits many times on prints that were not matches and on other prints which it should have 'matched' it missed completely. For our usage the error rate was just way too high. Our intended use was to use the Identicator technology on the back of a id card to match a print against our 6.7Million Print DB. Perhaps they have improved their matcher... David Perhaps Identix knew about this problem and now identicator has fixed it or perhaps identix knows how to fix it. I hope its not a bad move.
