DowJones 02/06/97 11:59 CST PRINTER 792 19 S=UTEK 6096020 Text Technical DJ: Ultratech Stepper Closes Lepton Purchase, Plans 1st-Quarter Charge SAN JOSE, Calif. -(Dow Jones)- Ultratech Stepper Inc. said it completed the acquisition of Lepton Inc. and expects to report a one-time charge in the first quarter of about 12 cents a share for in-process research and development. Terms of the acquisition, which was first announced in early January, weren't disclosed. Ultratech, which makes photolithography steppers used in the fabrication of semiconductor and thin film heads for disk drives., said it created a unit, UltraBeam Lithography Inc., to focus on the newly-acquired technology.
