IMO if the price differential narrows significantly, sales for the "consumer laptop" will *easily* surpass that of the iMac.

That's a pretty bold statement soup. It would certainly shake up the industry if it happened that way. If they were going to offer something like a PB G3 for the same price as the iMac then this might have a chance of happening. But they can't posibly. Instead they are going to offer somthing with an 11 inch screen and kiddy keyboard. I don't think this is going to be considerd a suitable desktop replacement by most people. Even at the same price as the iMac.

And, if they can incorporate something like wireless internet connectivity as a no, low or even mid-cost option

This is just not practical on the low end product, so don't hold your breath. I think all this talk of of wireless connectivity is just an offshoot of Apples obvious intention to introduce a MacMate product based on the Palm OS(which is getting some wireless features with the Palm VII).
