Good news Bad news

I contacted the geologist with the BLM who is responsible for the area in Arizona where the DD players are located. He confirmed that the names were familiar and that they did have a lot of country staked. He did not have the time to check on each name and the number of claims but invited me to do so if I am in the area.

As I mentioned before it is real easy to stake claims and anyone can do it. Richard Mazzarella, Paul Blakeslee and Lee Bush are contemplating just such action. However, it is not very simple to do anything on the claims after they are staked. The only thing you can do without a permit is hand pick rocks or shovel dirt into a bucket or sack.

Before one does any drilling or trenching, one must obtain a permit from the BLM. The geologist was only aware of one permit. Maxam had requested and received a permit for a water well. He seemed surprised that they were reporting gold values from a water well. No one has submitted drilling permits or mining plans to his office.

This would mean that the drilliing reported must be on private land. If you search about on the web you can find info about the BLM or you can just call their office in Px. Having dealt with the BLM in the past they don't make many mistakes when it comes to doing work without permits.

Happy prospecting boys.
