I apologize to everyone for the direction of the current discussion. The purpose of this thread is to come up with reasons why a conservative should stay in the Republican party. It is not to endlessly argue with one another about whether Clinton should/should not be removed from office. There are thousands of chat boards where one can go to do that.

I don't care what happens to Clinton, the issue is water under the bridge. This endless bickering and flaming is worthless and petty and serves no one except loudmouth and opinionated bores. So, all you folks that want to justify/condemn Clinton and that whole issue, take it somewhere else. I no longer will respond to anybody that does not stay on the purpose.

I would especially like to hear from conservatives who are also disgusted with the current bunch of republicans, especially in the Senate. As I said before, I agree with much of the libertarian philosophy but have serious doubts that they will ever come close to winning any seat in Congress or the Presidency. So, given that as likely, one must try to use a major party to accomplish certain conservative goals. And given the current crop in Congress, I strongly believe that they need to be sent a message, to get a real scare, to be defeated and become a minority. That's why I plan to vote straight dem in 2,000. I don't agree that we would have major problems with the dems in control of congress; heck, they controlled congress for forty years before we took over. In fact, we may just be more effective as the minority party anyway.

Thoughts?
