3Com First to Reach PC 98 Certification Milestone
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 11, 1999--3Com Corporation (Nasdaq: COMS) today announced it has obtained the first PC 98 certification on CardBus LAN adapters for mobile computers. The PC 98 designation guarantees that the 3Com Megahertz(R) 10/100 LAN CardBus PC Card is compatible with Microsoft Windows NT(R), Microsoft Windows(R) 95, Microsoft Windows(R) 98, and other products that bear the PC 98 logo. The PC 98 certification process includes a rigorous set of tests to ensure products are stable, easy-to-use, and take advantage of the new features of Microsoft operating systems.
Available with 3Com's durable XJACK(R) connector, the 3Com Megahertz 10/100 LAN CardBus PC Card (models 3CCFE575BT and 3CXFE575BT) delivers the easiest, most reliable 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX network connections for notebooks with 32-bit CardBus slots. 3Com's announcement of PC 98 certification for the Megahertz 10/100 LAN CardBus PC Card comes shortly after the January 19 announcement of the 3Com-Microsoft alliance -- a strategic relationship intended to accelerate deployment of a new generation of converged networks. 3Com also announced that it will open a development center near the Microsoft campus in Redmond to ensure product quality, bring products to market quickly and support cooperative product development.
