3Com First to Reach PC 98 Certification Milestone

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 11,
1999--3Com Corporation (Nasdaq: COMS) today announced it has
obtained the first PC 98 certification on CardBus LAN adapters for
mobile computers. The PC 98 designation guarantees that the 3Com
Megahertz(R) 10/100 LAN CardBus PC Card is compatible with
Microsoft Windows NT(R), Microsoft Windows(R) 95, Microsoft
Windows(R) 98, and other products that bear the PC 98 logo. The
PC 98 certification process includes a rigorous set of tests to ensure
products are stable, easy-to-use, and take advantage of the new
features of Microsoft operating systems.

Available with 3Com's durable XJACK(R) connector, the 3Com
Megahertz 10/100 LAN CardBus PC Card (models 3CCFE575BT
and 3CXFE575BT) delivers the easiest, most reliable 10BASE-T
and 100BASE-TX network connections for notebooks with 32-bit
CardBus slots. Additional product information can be found at
3com.com.

3Com's announcement of PC 98 certification for the Megahertz
10/100 LAN CardBus PC Card comes shortly after the January 19
announcement of the 3Com-Microsoft alliance -- a strategic
relationship intended to accelerate deployment of a new generation
of converged networks. 3Com also announced that it will open a
development center near the Microsoft campus in Redmond to
ensure product quality, bring products to market quickly and
support cooperative product development.
