Ventura Argues With Students - (SAINT PAUL) -- The issue of
single parenthood sparks a shouting match at the state Capitol between
state college and university students and Governor Jesse Ventura.
Yesterday, single parent students asked Ventura for more state
childcare assistance. Ventura responded by asking them why they
became single parents in the first place. Riverland Technical College
student Dawn Yost replied angrily that she was married when she had
children and did NOT ask to be a single parent. Ventura replied that it
was not the government's job to ''make up for people's mistakes.''
