Law abiding is a relative term. People sit on railroad tracks and claim they are law abiding citizens.

I imagine the "Weathermen" thought they were law abiding as well and that the Feds were the crooks.

Waco?? No doubt about it.. Stupid... Criminally stupid.

And the BATF supervisors who thought they had a "hot" case that would restore credibility to their beleagured agency (BATF is not the most popular agency for Federal Agents to work for), and justify greater budgets for themselves.

It was abuse of power and politically stupid, especially given the fact that so many innocent children were inside.

What were they thinking?? God only knows. And the FBI only added to the disaster.

But then again, think about it from the Agents point of view. They had agents spending up to 51 days away from their families because some wacko thought he was Jesus Christ and wanted to lead his people in an apocalyptic shoot-out to the death.

How would you have resolved the situation given the screwed up situation that BATF left you with??

People are quick to judge other people's actions without disclosing how they would have resolved the situation themselves. Personally, I think there had to be another way to get Koresh to surrender (after the BATF raid failed), but for the life of me I can't think of how. I watched the complex go up in flames just most of America and was just as disgusted that it came to that moment.

But Koresh just wasn't going to surrender.

Again, I would really like to know how you would have handled the seige there. (aside from not getting yourself in that pickle in the first place.. :0)

Regards,

Ron
