As for Siemens not wanting to pay the big bucks for Newbridge Network only goes to show their lack of strategic good sense. They think they can money with partnerships and alliances.

A company their size should be able to buy NN with cash in the bank. Leave it up to the big boys like Northern Telecom, Lucent and Cisco to become real providers of solutions for the future of the Internet.

Siemens, Philips of Holland, Alcatel they're just big European conglomerates with no clear path of what they want to do or where they want to go. In addition, they are showing they don't understand what the internet is all about.

You just have to travel across Europe to see how late they in adopting internet based communications and technology.

I am not an American, but when it comes to having business sense and strategic know how, no one comes up to their level. Canadians are a close second.

European companies are always bit players in new technologies. Siemens isn't going to change any of that.
