I would be curious to know what you think of the technology Activeworlds uses for rendering its graphics. My information is that Activeworlds sofware utilizes Renderware, a proprietary (not to Activeworlds) graphics rendering engine.

In the interview I noticed that you (Worlds Inc.) were involved with the VRML standards committee. VRML, as opposed to Renderware, is an open standard with wide distribution and a sizable number of tools available. Do you see any dangers with Activeworlds basing their product on a closed, proprietary standard, as opposed to following current internet movement toward open standards?

From your experience, are there any other viable rendering technologies out there that have a good chance of becoming a standard? (Open GL, Chromeffects, etc.)

Thank you for your responses.
