The ammonia inducible glutamate dehydrogenase gene discovery is big IMHO. The test studies on wheat are important, but the big market will be in corn. Cloning and gene transfer of the nitrogenase enzyme complex has been the "holy grail" to reduce anhydrous ammonia and other ammoniacal fertilizers.

Clearly nitrogenase uses airborne N2, and that is why it represents the holy grail for reducing the use of fertilizers.
