law,
I know what you mean on your description on the makeup of the GO/SEEK board. Let's see, yesterday Harry was an idiot, today he is a genius <g>. In some ways, it reminds me of the YHOO/SEEK board about a year ago (before SEEK started to climb), but without the foul language and all of the spammers. SI keeps this stuff to a minimum since they charge people to post and monitor the boards for foul behavior. I guess that's one drawback that the GO boards will have to live with. However, I have made great use of the "Ignore" feature to cut down on some of the BS.
As far as Go.com, I've got to disagree with you on some points. When I think back to what Infoseek was and what GO now offers, SEEK has made a huge jump (IMO). I agree that there is still alot of work to do, especially from a marketing standpoint and GO Money. However, no other portal out there is getting the exposure that we are, from ESPN to ABC to the Disney Channel. I am disappointed that I've only seen one GO ad in Atlanta, but I have seen a ton of GO Network logos show up on the Disney Channel.
Right now, my main concerns with GO are: 1) Seems to be a small number of advertisers; I've seen the AT&T OneRate ad and the ESPN Fantasy Basketball ad way too many times 2) GO Money needs to up upgraded very soon and free RTQ would be the golden carrot that would attract ALOT of investors and posters 3) Need to step up the marketing and PR ('Nuff said) 4) Need to promote their message boards and make them easier to find. The message boards that they've put together have some great features that no one else can offer. I can say that I've seen a significant rise in the number of new posters since I started reading the boards during the beta. Also, I went over to check out how the ESPN/NBA team message boards are doing and I'm encouraged by the activity over there since they opened up 4 days ago (did you know that there are 116 posts on the Knicks board?)
Well, enough rambling for tonight on this quiet SEEK board.
Take care,
