Barb, It's something close to "internet storms" theory. Or market bubble. Good service-more people are coming-bad service-people are leaving-circle :O)
Datek was one of the best, not to mention cheap. Fast, always shares available. They could be a little more honest from the very beginning, but we are living today, right<g>? More customers, same capacity. Hiring new people for tech support. They were not bad, but unexperienced. One day I spent 20 min explaining young guy what boxing is about and why would I do such strange thing. He will learn everything,I am sure, but at that point I wanted 10 sec answer: will they allow me to box or not. Complains, complains, complains. Customers left. Including myself.
And, as well as you did, I found Waterhouse attractive. Slow, with mistakes and rather poor software, but you could call them, talk normally, they were polite and knowledgeble, they gladly corrected mistakes for their own expense (if you could prove, of course). Customers ariiving... And I am getting crazy messages. Tech support is absolutely sure that such messages did not exist in the system. Hour, supervisor, well, they do exist but we can't do anything. Yes, we understand, but the rule is... Well, it's a system problem but we can't... Than I had to spent 2 hours with "curently assisting other customers", and ... I returned to Datek. Because active traders left, it's reasonably fast. And there are shares to borrow, well, sometimes. And, such a surprise, when they can't execute order in 1 min, they are not taking comissions. Automatically. I am impressed.
Oh, why I am writing that? It may be much worse soon... Hopefully, everyone is sleeping now, no one is reading this board during bull market and no one is taking my opinion seriously anyway<g>.
Have a good night. |
