First, my point had to do with your strange assertion about conservatives "not being able to compete". Second, studies show that evangelicals are better educated than the general population, have a higher income, etc. Third, it may be that the parties are pretty evenly matched in talent. Since the Republicans have embraced a "values platform" at least since '80, and we have retained a diverse group, I don't see what is different now, to drive anyone out. And since we are incubating more candidates for higher office at the state level, the odds favor us in the future, all other things being equal.
