MIPS Technology Passes One Hundred Millionth Shipping Milestone
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIFORNIA, U.S.A. MIPS Technologies, Inc. announced it has shipped more than one hundred million processors with its advanced MIPS (million instructions per second) RISC (reduced instruction set computer) architecture. The firm says its instruction set architectures (ISAs) are being used in devices from high-end supercomputers to consumer- based digital devices and the embedded market, giving the firm a portfolio of over 60 products. Motorola's New M-Core M300 Processor Debuted
AUSTIN, TEXAS, U.S.A. Motorola unveiled its next-generation microprocessor core, the M300 M-Core, at the Microprocessor Forum this week. Motorola says the processor continues the line of processors that uses floating point units to give enhanced core performance for numeric acceleration. This means a system can give faster calculation rates while using less power, an important design factor.
