Corel eyes poison pill
COREL Corp. spent a second day yesterday fending off strong rumours that the company is making plans to fight off an upcoming hostile takeover bid.

The rumours were fanned by a board of directors' meeting held yesterday to pass a poison pill, or shareholders rights, plan that can be used as a defence against any unwanted bid.

Corel spokesperson Nicole Sanford said it was "absolutely pure coincidence" that the plan was discussed at a time when rumours are spreading through the investment community that the company is preparing to fight a hostile bid...
