My guess is that the microcap stocks were not part of the data base of stocks on which he back-tested the various strategies, so he conveniently left them out of his book. Also likely is the probability that, with his mutual funds in formation and knowing that the fund could not purchase enough of the microcaps to impact a large portfolio, he neglected these stocks from study.
