Dear Brother Dan, I thank you for reminding me of these things.

I am reading Josephus and it is very timely, since my world-wide surroundings are shaking my faith that God is actually something other than a figment of my l970-1982 imagination.

In Josephus I read that Herod indeed liked to cut off heads and send them to relatives as a present. Indeed he did actually cut off the beloved head of our most beautiful brother John. But the end of Salome was rather like the end of all mad women and men, spent in hell on earth. Amen. As with the four Herods--FOUR of them. One hideous Herod seemed to lead to another. Another warning for us.

And Josephus speaks of a very wicked Ananus, the high priest, who of course must have been our English Ananias.

So, haven't yet stumbled across his many mentions of our Lord specifically.

This is very, very interesting. Of all of the mentions of history, Josephus is barely mentioned, rarely ever quoted by anyone, and mentioned only by the name Josephus, rather than his recounting of accurate history. You kniow why? Josephus seems to be one of the most accurate proofs of the writings of the Gospels of Jesus Christ there is.

Oh wicked, wicked man, so much better for them had they ever listened to the little warning: Be not deceived little children--God is not mocked.

Waiting patiently and a little curiously to see how our God reacts to the national admiration and vindication of our king.
