All,

Interesting article about drivers license fingerprint (isn't that an Identicator fingerprint reader pictured?) - some quotes -

"A state fingerprinting law has caught 681 people attempting to obtain fraudulent licenses since it was implemented in October 1996. Of those, about 140 have been arrested."

"There's no doubt the fingerprinting has stopped some people," he said. "This is more of a Big Brother move to a national I.D."

"Many of my constituents are for (it). They don't mind having their fingerprints taken."

Jackson said he would support keeping the fingerprint requirement in hopes of protecting against fraud.

"All we're trying to do is protect the integrity of the driver's license," he said. "You use a driver's license more for identification than for giving it to a police officer when you get pulled over on a traffic stop."

Opponents of the fingerprinting requirement claim that not only does the law violate a person's constitutional rights, but it treats them like criminals.
