It's amazing how complicated some people are making this! The shares you owned at the close yesterday determine the number of dividend shares you get. Those shares will show up in your account probably on Wednesday. Whether or not you sell your current shares today makes no difference. The current price of the stock is the new price. Now the market will determine whether we go up or down. Call IR if you are STILL confused.
