I have found the subject of "forgiving" Sleazebag Bill to be laughable, at least from my standpoint. It may be more relevant to Hillary, Chelsea, Paula, Jennifer, Monica and scores of other females he's abused. But this president's public failings are not primarily sexual in nature. BC has not done anything particularly bad to me- any more than any other socialist elected official. So it's not up to me to forgive him. He has abused the trust of his high office, and if for no other reason he should no longer serve as President of the United States. He has committed offenses that would probably place a common citizen behind bars; many Americans are untroubled by having their president exempt from laws to which the rest of us are subject.
Unlike most Americans, I hold public officials to certain standards of conduct and integrity. In fact, I believe all people are subject to those standards. The chronic lying of this administration- and its unofficial number two- is quite disturbing to me. As I've said before, depending on the circumstances, I might not be too upset over lies over affairs of state. But Bill and Hillary lie as matter of course- Bill telling us how he "remembered" black churches being burned in Arkansas when he was a boy. Funny the newspapers didn't record it, and other folks don't have those memories. At Ron Brown's funeral, the little jerk was caught on camera laughing it up with his pals. When he saw a camera, a "deeply moved" expression came to his face, and a tear to the little sleazebag's eye. How touching.
The hypocrisy of many of Clinton's defenders also is disturbing. Nixon was hounded from office for lying- not even under oath- to the American people, with none other than Hillary as one of his prosecutors. Completely different standards have been applied to Sleazebag Bill. Never mind, that unlike Hillary, neither Nixon nor his associates improperly profited from their political connections, Checkers notwithstanding.
There is something rotten about a society that fails to condemn a leader like Bill Clinton. I don't know when the consequences of that acquiescing to that kind of behavior will seriously undermine this nation, but I believe it cannot fail to do so. I find it somewhat humbling that those whom I occasionally disparage- fundamentalist Christians- can communicate a sense of wrongness about a man like Clinton better than I could ever hope do. I may deem their reasoning flawed, but I have to recognize their greater power to influence the minds actions of men.
I have found this thread to be an interesting glimpse into the mind and even soul of many Americans. That so many people think they are intelligently assessing a situation when they have such vacuous rationales for their cherished beliefs is a bit frightening. And I told I am supposed to respect the decisions made by an organization headed by such a man as Bill Clinton. Count me out- in fact, he's a good reason to support the Libertarians.
Rejoice, defenders of Sleazebag Bill- on this, the day that the little creep escapes again- I announce my intention to no longer actively participate in this thread.

P.S. Clinton has intoned that abortion should be "safe, legal, and rare". But of course, it will not be rare when men are free to act as Clinton has. Yeah, I know, many of Clinton's defenders would be among the first to cast stones at other men who act as Clinton has. |
