Gvander - Sorry you elect not to participate, however your "above it all attitude" does not elevate the value of you opinion.

The following Sony press release is a bit old but is indicative of the growing market for these batteries. The market Valence will sell into. Furthermore, VLNC's battery is an improvement over Sony's. Valence has said for at least last 1 1/2 years that sales is not a problem - mass production is. And it appears they are about to now mass produce. Gvander, place your bet - my money rides on VLNC.
PS - call them and ask if you can participate in the upcoming conf call so we can hear the horse speak to the issues you raise.

TOKYO, Dec 11 (Reuter) - Sony Corp said on Wednesday that it would invest 10 billion yen in the next business year to boost its monthly production capacity of lithium-ion batteries to 15 million cells.
Lithium-ion batteries are used in such products as notebook personal computers, cellular phones and digital video cameras.

Demand is booming because of a sharp expansion in sales of such products.

Market leader Sony currently produces eight million rechargeable lithium-ion batteries per month. It earlier said it would raise monthly production capacity to 10 million cells by the end of the current business year in March 1997.

Sony expects the worldwide market for lithium-ion rechargeable batteries to reach 130 million cells in the year to end-March 1997, up from 40 million cells a year earlier.

Attracted by the market's potential, Sanyo Electric Co <6764.T>, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co <6752.T> and Toshiba Corp <6502.T> are also boosting production capacities.
