I think one of the ideas of the article was that many if not most women are threatened by a man's having an emotional relationship with another woman, no matter what, because they do not believe that a man can have this kind of relationship with another woman without it eventually becoming an emotional/sexual relationship which would obviously jeapordize the existing relationship.
