Apparently some analyst's feel that the competition is starting, to be closing in.

Ive got to get a hold of these analyst statements - Im not home today so I cant see CNBC... but I dont think product-by-product competition from Cpq or whoever is a problem for Dell (if thats what they are saying). Dell outmarkets Cpq at any rate so there is more to Dell than mfg.... and cpq is the only other player in that league.

I think there may be some complex issues with Dells foray into the enterprise space however... maybe that is the real problem... sometimes analysts cant define all the issues clearly or they dont want to. Anyway earlier this year Dell was assumed to clean up in the low end enterprise space. They build the best boxes imo but msfts dominance of that mkt hasnt really happened thanks to the DOJ, and that is the same thing that is propelling Oracle stock. You also have the Sun influence on the AOL/Netscape deal, and I have always suspected that Nscp could be the #1 browser again if msft was reigned in a little.... so the net net is that msft may have been weakened before they took off in the enterprise, which will hurt Dell.

Dell needs to succeed in the server space to maintain its lofty multiple I believe. On a positive note, Dell still has less than 20% worldwide PC mkt share, and is the best boxmaker hands down.

I have some Dell in the same account with Amzn so Im probably taking a bath! I cant look!
