I wasn't concerned about what ML didn't say but, rather, what Dan Niles of RS said. He's a very influential analyst and this has been supported by the fact that DELL's price is down $10 so far today.

What particularly drives me crazy is if Niles is wrong it hurts his credibility big time. So why would he do this 3 days from the earnings report? And why is he the only high profile analyst to make this statement? Assuming no personal agenda here I suspect that he believes that if he is right this will reinforce his reputation. If he is wrong he may claim that his numbers referred only to the PC business and excludes Data Storage.

I'm stumped! But, I believe that DELL will surprise, as usual. In addition, I now think that Michael DELL, being the aggressive 33 year old that he is, may announce a 2:1 or even a 5:2 split - just to stick it to the pack of naysayers and doubters who are gleefully shorting DELL's stock.

We'll see on Tuesday after the close.
