jg,

I hope you agree with me that legal businesses have the same right to legal representation as criminals. A lawyer representing them is practicing his trade in either case. Regarding the shenanigans attorneys use for their clients, you will get no argument here.

FWIW I abhor smoking, and I will not allow it in my house (except for my parents who would otherwise not visit). There are many other things that I disapprove of. However just because I disapprove of something does not automatically lead me to believe it should be forbidden. Since tobacco is legal, I do not feel an industry lawyer should be vilified, any more that VP Gore should be for being from a family of tobacco farmers. I have the opinion that tobacco has been singled out because of one reason: the lure of money for lawyers and politicians.

Since you ask, I have witnessed many autopsies, and I am on the cancer wards frequently. Every day I have to deal with the ravages due to abuse: tobacco of course, but also alcohol, overeating, illegal drugs, total lack of exercise, etc. There are many ways to abuse one's body.
