Allen, from an old Bernoulli disk user and owner (150 IDE), Iomega has a lot of experience in increasing the density of the cartridges it uses in the drive. I'm not sure of all of the various combinations but I know I can read, write and format 35 MB, 65 MB, 105 MB and of course 150s. I can also read and write to 90 MB carts, but to format a 90 in a 150 results in "reduced performance" in that cart.

So, it would seem to me that if IOM has reported that they have a lot of new stuff in the lab and that a news item on this thread a while back mentioned that a supplier was picked to produce 2 Gig media, it would appear that KE may be just waiting in the wings to spring this higher density Jaz machine. If the design permits, it may well be compatable for at least for read & write and maybe even format with the 1 Gig carts. This would certainly be a excellent competative response to the new Syquest 1.5 Gig drive if it looks like it is going to be well recieved by the marketplace. And that is yet to be proven. It will be interesting to see if something like this plays out. Best regards to All, Mel
